First, let me say that I agree with you about no one person, no matter how brilliant or experienced, providing $100 million of actual "value" to a company. Human dignity, love, etc. may be priceless, but business acumen is not. It's the same with celebrities, athletes -- after a certain point, the dollar amounts are ludicrous and not tied to value in any way.

But I also need to say that I can't imagine this plan being implemented in the U.S. (because no politician would vote for it) or, if it were, working as intended. People are greedy and would get around it however they could.

Off the top of my head, one possible negative side effect could be severe wage compression for the majority of workers. Because this plan is based on the wage of the lowest-paid employee, once that is set and the CEO's pay linked to it, the easiest place to squeeze costs from without penalty to the CEO would be reducing the pay of workers in the middle. So instead of $10/hr and $25/hr jobs, the business now has $10 and $12 jobs.

I realize you're not presenting this as a complete plan, ready-to-go, and I'm far from an economist. Who knows? Maybe an expert could run with this idea or a similar one. But personally, I'm way too cynical to believe radical business reform will be seen as an option for the U.S. prior to complete societal collapse.

Show me one CEO that actually provides $100 million worth of value for their company.

A single worker on the line does more for a company than these greedy, parasitic executives. Only the 'wannabe rich' see no problem with the out of control executive pay in this country. You want a consumer driven economy? Pay the workers more money. They will buy new cars. Homes. Growth would be explosive in every sector, people could actually save for retirement. Everyone that wants to work will have a job. But that's the dumbest thing you ever heard...
